Good morning,
Some updates on this thread. This issue (
ProppFrexx ONAIR.exe is still running), seems to happen when the ASIO driver is used.
Steps to reproduce :
- I have a fresh install of Windows and ProppFrexx on a physical machine.
- Set the main audio output to ASIO (I have tested with the official Realtek ASIO and ASIO4All drivers)
- Close ProppFrexx and check the Task Manager processes. ProppFrexx ONAIR.exe is not closed properly.
I hope it will help to solve the problem.
Thank you.
Quentin

This thread was about setting up media libraries correctly and was already solved.
This seems to be a different issue and might be related to the ASIO driver. I will test this as well.
Are you playing anything when closing ProppFrexx or doing anything else in the background?
And how long do you wait after the ProppFrexx UI has been closed?

Hi Bernd,
Thanks for your quick feedback. I have waited more than 1 hour (just to confirm). When I switch back the audio settings to WASAPI or WDM the issue disappears.

I have just tried to reproduce your issue but was not successfull.
I used the RealtekASIO as well as the ASIO4ALL driver for my main OUT mixer channel. ProppFrexx gracefully shuts down and also disappeared immediately from the task manager.
As said, are you else where running stuff in the background?
Please reboot your machine and try again.

I have reboot and I am not running anything in the background (it is a fresh install of Windows and PF). Motherboard used is
MSI Z77A-G43.
I tried one more time and confirm it works with WASAPI or WDM, but the process is not closed when I am using ASIO. I have enabled Debug Output but I don't see anything related to the audio driver.

With background I mean for example a rescan of your media libs? See the red busy indicator at the very bottom left.
If there is nothing running, it seems obvious, that it is somehow related to the ASIO driver not being released properly- as it works fine with WASAPI in your case.
But as I can not reproduce it here and as other customers also don’t have the issue in general - it is not a general ProppFrexx issue, which I can solve in general. I am really sorry, but I can only fix things which I can reproduce.

No background task is active (indicator is gray). I have tested the same scenario on a different machine (with different hardware), ASIO4All + Realtek HD Audio, and ASIO4All + C-MEDIA USB Audio and I have the same behavior. I have tested on Windows 10 and Windows 11 as well.
If you have the opportunity, could you please test again in the above scenario on a different machine or VM?
Thank you.

Yes, I did - on all my Test-Hardware it works, without any issue.
Are you mixing the different driver modes on different mixer channels (ie. ASIO and WASAPI)? If yes, you should not do that, that might lead to lags and other problems.
You should stick to only one driver model, i.e. use ASIO for ALL mixer channels or use WASAPI for ALL mixer channels.

No, I'm not mixing the drivers (see attachment of the test machine).
