That looks indeed odd - I have to check, what is going on there...
Now I see what happens:
a) as you are using Folder based media libs, you must always use the ‚Rescan‘ function to load new TAG data
b) standard TAGs like Year, Genre, Album, etc. are today always added, but never removed. I will change this also in a next version.
But editing folder based media libs is best done, if you open them within ProppFrexx from the Open submenu and then select that specific media lib. It will then open as a playlist, in which you can directly (mass)edit the tracks.
Can you please share a demo of the last option, i dont see what you mean. tnks.

Just try it...
You click on the lower part of the "Open" in the Main ribbon tab.
This opens a sub-menu with the list of most recent playlists pus at the end of that list the "Media Libraries" sub-menu, from which you can now open you related media library directly.
This now opens a playlist window reflecting your media library. In case of folder based media libraries a (actually 2) warning dialogs appear to inform you, that if you drop/add new tracks, those tracks won't be saved/copied to your folder structure and as such not saved.
But if you tag your files them from here, no rescan is needed.
A few hints when editing media libraries resp. the TAG data:
You might want to enable 'Direct TAG Editing'. If enabled, you have the same functionality like in the Tagger. At the end, don't forget to disable it again.##
When not in Direct TAG Editing mode you can use Alt+3 to invoke the Tag Editor dialog (save your changed at the end of the dialog).
And you can quickly search for tracks in your plalyist by focussing a column (e.g. the Artist) and then you start typing a letter, e.g. 'D' will jump to the first entry with a 'D'. Type more letters to search for Artists starting with that letters.
Or activate the 'Find Panel' from the column header context-menu (make a right-click on a column-header):
Once you are done with your edits, close the folder based media lib playlist window and the edits are immediately available.
The same is true, if you edit your TAGs directly from within the Find window, as here the entries of your media lib are also directly displayed and can be edited.
A regular playlist however always uses a logial copy of those entries. Hence a Rescan is needed after, as any external editing does.

It will be empty. I tried it and it was working. Make sure you leave the field (eg press the TAB key) before you save the tags.

Maybe your audio file contains multiple TAGs formats at once? (I have seen files with ID3v1, ID3v2, Vorbis and other structures in parallel- this can be trouble some)
In this case check, if you have multiple and remove the unnecessary (make a right-click in the Tag Editor at the bottom right info region).
Send me a sample file to investigate.
