Can someone give me the settings to stop PF starting the next hour schedule bang on time by fading out the song its playing. I want it to finish the song its playing before starting the next hour. At the moment if a song starts at 00.59 then all you hear is one minute of that song before it fades it out and starts the next hour. I have tried soft start and altering max delay time in the scheduler to 120 seconds but it ignores that.

Take a look to the Program Scheduler and open the related program entry (double-click to open it).
In the program entry dialog set the 'StartType' to 'Soft'.

Already done that. Set it to Soft and a delay of 120 seconds but it ignores that command. Tried going to 'Scripts/Scheduler' "edit" and set that to soft start and a delay but once I close it and then re-open it, it has returned to fixed start. Editing the 'Scripts/Scheduler' does not work for some reason. I am using an external scheduler and PF is collecting the info from the playlist folder from that external scheduler. (If you remember Bernd it is SPL that the playlist is being generated from).

a) in the general settings, section 'Scripts/Scheduler'you can NOT define a StartType of a program.
You can only define a default value for the 'Max. Program Delay' time. And this is just a default value for new program created manually (as stated in the tooltip hint).

b) Did you try to change the StartType of an already existing/imported program? What StartType does it have?
In case of 'Soft' start, the remaining playtime of a currently playing track will be evaluated. If the remaining playtime is less than the given "Max. Delay" time the track will play til the end until this program is started. If the remaining time is bigger than the Maximum Delay the track is stopped immediately and the program starts on time.
As such you also might want to increase the 'Max. Delay' time!

c) When however importing from an external scheduler, all these default values (StartType, Max. Delay etc.) are defined by the import process - namely within the "ProppFrexx ONAIR.importformats" file.
So you effectively need to change/adjust that file manually whenever needed.

Set the Max delay to 240 seconds in the Program Scheduler and sometimes it will play the full song then start the new hour and other times even though the song is within 240 seconds it just dumps it and starts the new hour. So not sure what to try next.

Please post some more details and a few screenshots of your Program Scheduler entry (and its settings) as well as the related script. If there are any Overlay Scheduler entries also involved, please post them too.
Since I am absolutely unable to reproduce such issue here.
Note, that the 'Max. Delay' refers to the remaining time of the currently playing track - meaning, if its current remaining time is greater than 4 minutes (240sec.) it will start immediately.
In all tests here this is exactly the case with no exception (assuming you have not specified any specific script-line or track options).

Have been running all day with the Max Delay set to 180 seconds and it had been working fine. Plays out the previous hour last track or as the external scheduler is reasonable accurate with track times starts on the Hour after finishing the song. So all is well. Thanks Bernd.
