Import overlays

Post by Thijmen »

Hi there,

I was wondering if I could achieve the following;

I have several overlays (commercials before news, commercials after news).
Now, I have a 3rd party tool where I manage my shows. What I would like to achieve with some coding is, that I am able to change the closer of the "commercials after news" overlay.
Is this possible? Or is it only possible to change the commercials INSIDE this overlay, via an import? Because the closer of this "commercials after news" overlay will become the TOTH and the start of the new program.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t fully get your request I am afraid.
So do you want to modify the configuration and overlay scheduler entries via an external tool?
If yes, I am afraid this is not possible today and there are no plans to do this.

But yes, you can fully manage your overlay (playlist) via an external scheduler. The closer in this case would be the last track of your imported overlay playlist.

I see. Would it for an external scheduler also be possible to only ADD items to an overlay, in stead of completely replacing it?

No. It is either or.

But you might play a eg. .pfp playlist file in the overlay. That format is well documented. And the external application can edit that playlist file.

Or you always schedule a ‚dummy‘ track in the overlay, and the external application replaces that file.
