[StreamServer] Keep On Sending Data Even If Stopped

Hello,

This time I've double checked and almost sure this is not a feature (well I hope):

I currently have SPL streaming our radio content to our shoutcast server.

At the same time I have PFOA, with a streaming server set to this same shoutcast server but I've asked PFOA to "Stop All Servers" from the "Network Streaming Monitor" window.

Everything is ok until I play some song from a playlist, even with the PFL Player. When doing so, I can see the streaming server is still not connected (not green), there is no sign of activity, fine, except that things are different on my shoutcast server and players. I start to see "connection time out" and then I start to see in my player the Artist/Title infos from the song I'm playing in PFOA!

The audio itself is ok, it is always the one from SPL, but it seems PFOA try to send the metadata of the current played song even if it is not connected to the shoutcast server ?

Cheers,
Guy.

Well, looks like it might be another feature you are tapping into ;-)

You probably have the "Force Update" option checked with your Streaming Server.
Just click on the '?' icon at the top right of the Streaming Server configuration dialog and you'll get the following:

Force Update (Force Song Title Update)
Updates the song title with the currently playing track, even if the server is not connected.
This setting might be useful, if you want to use an external streaming client/encoder, but only want to update the song title from this instance.
Note: If you do not use this instance for online streaming make sure that you provide the admin username/password above, as some streaming servers require the admin password for offline title updates.

However, I doubt, that the PFL Player updates the song title - but a regular playing playlist would.

So in your case - make sure the "Force Update" option is disabled within your Streaming Server configuration (which is also the default - so you must have enabled it?) !

Damn, you are right again. I probably tested it and forgot to remove it.

That said, the force update option is tight to a stream server configuration, so it still makes no sense that the update is forced while that server is stopped, right ?

On a side note, I still have that strange message appearing as metadata in my players (in alternating with the track name):

Connection time out (110).

I have it since I stream with PFOA, I never had it with SPL. Any idea from where this could come from ?

Cheers,
Guy.

The connection timeout message is not related to ProppFrexx as it appears on your server.

And the Force Update option is perfectly right where it currently is and there is nothing wrong with it!
See the description above: it is designed to work when the server is stopped!

Ok, I've re-red the description, I understand now and yes it makes sense.

Cheers,
Guy.
