Questions about script

Post by claudius06 »

Hello Bernd,

1/ How can we prevent a script from being looped?
2/ If I absolutely want to play a promotion after a ready-to-air show, within a script, how should I proceed?

But, finally, I'm wondering is a script the best way to broadcast a ready-to-air show?
For example a show composed of:

- News before its start (overlay)
- A first part (file #1)
- A breaking ads (overlay)
- A weather bulletin (overlay)
- A second segment (file #2)
- A third segment (file #3)
- A promo

Thank you for your help.
Claude.

1/ A script always loops. But it only loops, if it is short in items. This of course depends on your script-lines.
But why do you want to prevent this?
Use for example the LoopLine option to exclude certain script-lines from the looping.

2/ I am not sure what you mean. But you can use a script-line after your show?!
Can you explain your use case in a bit more detail.

What do you mean by ‚Ready-To-Air show?
If this is the sequence you outlined, you can of course all script that- eg. each item of your show could be a script-line.
But you might also use the Overlays and adjust its timing accordingly.

Thank you for your reply.

1/ In my script, I have a recorded show of 1 hour of lenght, but if its lenght is only of 55 minutes, and the next element is not ready yet, the show will start over from the beginning, and that's what I'd like to avoid.
2/ For example, in the script, I have a recorded show of one hour followed immediately by a promotional message. However, if my show starts one minute late, it will finish one minute late as well. Consequently, my TOTH (overlay) will play just at the end of the show, causing the promotional message not to play. How can I force the playout of the promotional message in this case?

Ready-To-Air show : sorry, the translation is probably not the good one. I mean recorded show or pre-recorded show.

So you advice me to use overlays even for a show of nearly 2 hours?

1/ you defined the script as followed:
LoopLine=2
1. LoadTrack, yourrecordedshow.mp3, Count=1
2. LeastRecentlyPlayed, AnyMediaLib, Count=1
So it is important, that you set the script LoopLine=2, which means, that the 1st script-line is excluded from the looping. I.e it will only be executed once. If your recorded is short, then tracks are used from your 2nd script-line, i.e. random tracks are used from the given media lib.

2/ you might use a FixTimeElement if you need to exactly trigger a track exactly at a specific time. In this case, the previous (playing) element is ended early.

Alright, I got the point 1/ but for point 2/, I wouldn't want the previous playing to end earlier. Isn't it possible to ask PF "after this line, play the promotional message no matter what"?

2/ This time, I have missunderstood you.
Yes, you can set the script-line option "SuppressOverlay" with your promo.

SuppressOverlay: When this flag is set and an Overlay or MODStream is about to start with the 'Soft' start type, this track will not be considered and the overlay will be delayed til the next track.
