Proppfrexx loses metatags
Proppfrexx loses metatags
Lately I've noticed Proppfrexx doesn't seem to remeber tags/ Metadata.
In some cases the field 'Energy' suddenly appears to be empty. It also happens that assigned Rulesets dissappear from the tags.
Any idea how this happens & what to do about it?

Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
No. And I can not reproduce this issue.
Maybe you save MetaData to multiple places, eg. playlists, .pfmd files as well as the audio file TAG data?
But not consistently?!
Ie. make sure to not use .pfmd files and audio TAGs in parallel or always save the data consistently to both options.
Else, I have never experienced something like this. Except the mata data can not be saved entirely to the audio file TAG due to a corrupted audio structure.
So please send a demo file and the steps to reproduce.

Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
With a track I do the tags for artist, grouping, rulset etc. in the TAG-editor. In ONAIR is where I assigne intro's & cuepoints, then it saves to a pfmd-file.
In this case I'm talking about files which had those tags, and where working fine. But suddenly some files seem to have lost a part of the files. Today it started Christmas-music, which had an assigned Ruleset to only come up in december. It also planned summer-music, which had a rulset for the summertime.
In the TAG-editor I do see the correct tags, but in ONAIR some of them are gone.
What kind of demofile can I send, caus it doesn't happen to every file I have.

Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
In addition, PF also doesn't show the format of the files (in playlist). It shows: 'Unknown, 0,. Even with files which used to work. Maybe with one of the last updates something went wrong?
Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
Please send one file you have issues with (the audio file as well as the related .pfmd file)!
And explain what issue you exactly have with this file (e.g. Energy missing, RuleSet missing etc.).
Also check within ProppFrexx ONAIR if you have set the "MetaData has Priority" option (note, that this option does not exist in the Tagger!).
I have seen many customers having trouble understanding this option (that's why it is disabled by default, as the .pfmd option is) and it is not recommended to use the .pfmd files, except you have a clear reason to use it.
Why do you need to use .pfmd files at all (as all meta data can also be stored to the audio file itself)?
When you use the .pfmd files you can save meta data at 3 different locations:
1. the audio file (TAG)
2. the .pfmd file
3. the playlist
The option defines in which order the meta data is read (see the tooltip or help (?)for details).
As said, it is not recommended to use the .pfmd files at all - unless you have a very clear reason and use case to do so.
Else, I assume, that the meta data is not consistently saved. I.e. some meta data might be missing in either the audio file or the .pfmd file. And as such due to the meta data priority it is reading resp. not reading it.

Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
On the left ONAIR, on the right Tagger. Both show different info from the same file.
Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
I can also not reproduce your File Format issue in the latest version, see here:
So also send a file where this happens to you.

Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
What seems to be helping is removing the '_synced_.pfp'-files from the pc. After that I restarted PF ONAIR and the tags are back. Also it shows the file-format again. Can a synced-files be full or something like that?
Re: Proppfrexx loses metatags
No (it can't be full or something like that - I more assume, that the file got maybe corrupted?), but the _synced_.pfp is a cache, which stores the meta data of the audio files of a folder based media lib.
A 'Rescan' of such media lib might also have helped.
But I am glad you found the issue (and as you mentioned in the mail, you deactivated the .pfmd files).
Looking to the file you send it also looked okay. But the .pfmd file is not fully in line with the audio. I.e. the EntryType was "Music2" in the .pfmd file, but "Music" in the audio.
