Default operation
Default operation
Bernd
I am trying to understand how "Default operation" works.
As I described here, when an overlay appears and I don't want to play right now, the only way is to delay it. Now you placed a "Default operation" button on the ribbon.
I have the same situation and I don't know how to pause this overlay until I finally need it to play.
The overlay appears, delays to start because a song is playing, the Play and Delay buttons are disabled, I then click "Default Operation" (manual), because I don't want it to start, but it starts.
How can I pause an overlay and play it when I really need it (in manual operation) ?

Re: Default operation
The button is described here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1045
The 'Manual Operation' mode allows you (if enabled) to force a 'Manual' start of any scheduled Program or Overlay as well as to suppress an automatic resume (re-enable AutoPlay) of a suspended Playlist (e.g. after a LineFeed, Overlay or overlayed Program).
Just as you described it in your post.
E.g. when you are in the studio and want to run in fully manual mode you might want to switch to the 'Manual Operation' mode!
(note, that you can automatically also disable AutoPlay with this mode, see the link above).
In 'Manual Operation' mode there is no need for any 'delay' of overlays anymore, as you need to start them manually anyhow...
The 'Default Operation' mode works exactly as always in the past and starts Overlays and Programs automatically and also resumes a suspended Playlist automatically.

Re: Default operation
Bernd I have the following notes for "Default operation":
1. When an overlay is already shown and is delayed (I mean the countdown timer has reached zero - delay button is not visible anymore - and starts counting down again until the current playing song finishes) you click Default operation (enable manual) then the overlay ignores the manual operation and plays that overlay when counter reaches zero.
2. An overlay is shown and starts counting down. Enable manual operation. When counter reaches zero the counter starts counting down again from 7 minutes. If you don't play manually this overlay within 7 minutes it disappears (plays nothing).
Is that the expected behavior ?

Re: Default operation
1) yes.
Once the overlay is started its start type is already determined.
Clicking the default operations buttons once the overlay is already started would have no effect anymore.
Again when you enter the studio you should or might want to switch the mode.
But that button is not an emergency button for last second changes.
2) yes.
The final end time of the overlay plus 5 minutes define in manual mode the time window in which you must start the overlay manually, else it will not be started and be closed. If the overlay wouldn't be stopped automatically no subsequent overlays could be started. Guess this is not really wanted.
You can however still start that overlay manually again from the Upcomming Overlay pop up window..

Re: Default operation
In v3.0.13.17 I further optimized things a bit:
You can now in the last second switch to Manual Live-Assist mode.
But if the overlay is then at some beyond its max waiting time (which is defined as Overlay Start Time + Duration + Max. Delay) the overlay will be suppressed (not be played) in case it will not be started manually til then. It can however still be played via the 'Upcoming Overlay' popup...
