Preserve playlist order

I think that something is wrong when you move a (loaded) track from playlist in some other position :
I have enabled to Preserve playlist order.
I have the following tracks into the playlist:
Track 1 Loaded
Track 2 Loaded
Track 3 Loaded
Track 4
Track 5

Then I move Track 5 to position 2 and the list becomes:
Track1 Loaded
Track5 Loaded
Track2 Loaded
Track3
Track4

If now I move Track 5 to position 5 the list becomes:
Track 1 Loaded
Track 2 Loaded
Track 3
Track 4
Track 5 Loaded

Is that correct ?

There are two options controlling how tracks are handled within a playlist:

a) Preserve:
If checked, the playlist order will be preserved.
Meaning the DJ Players will always play the tracks in the exact same order as they appear within the playlist.
As such, if you drag an entry onto an existing playlist entry (which was already loaded to a DJ Player, but never effectively played so far), this previous entry will be ejected (but NOT marked as played) AND if any sub-sequent playlist entry below exists (which also was already loaded to a DJ Player, but never effectively played so far), this entry will also be replaced by the previous one etc.
The same would be true for tracks being added/inserted above a playlist entry (already loaded to a DJ Player) - the sub-sequent playlist entries will be exchanged within the DJ Players to preserve the correct playback order according to the order of the playlist.

Note: This can not be guaranteed in any case, if you also enabled the 'Change DJ Player with Playlist (Follow)' option - as this option might effectively change the playlist order.


b) Follow:
If checked, the playlist order will follow the DJ Players.
This means, when you e.g. delete an entry from the playlist which was already loaded to a DJ Player (and it is not currently playing), the DJ Player will be ejected accordingly.
This also means, that the order in which tracks appear within the playlist will follow the order of the DJ Players (A-B-C-D-A-B-...).

Note: As this option might change the order in which tracks are played from a playlist it will automatically be disabled for scheduled playlist and as such only represents the default for manually opened playlists.

I have set only PRESERVE Playlist order.

Finally, what I asked you is correct or not ?

I am sorry but it looks funny to me !
I can move a track from position 5 to position 2 but if I change my mind and want to move this track back to position 5 I can not.
(I suppose I can, but can you tell me how ?)

For my logic, "Preserve Playlist Order" means that the DJ players will play what is on positions 1,2,3 (if 3 dj players are used).
The is no IF here. IFs confuse the users (I am confused now too).

No,
if you want to 'move' the track from position 5 to position 2 - you might use the move track options (e.g. SHIFT+ALT+Up/Down Arrow Keys).
You can also move it back; e.g. unload the track manually and move it down.

You used the Drag and Drop option and dropped a track onto a position which was already loaded.
If you want No IFs, then deactivate the 'Preserve' option.
There is however ALWAYS an IF; e.g. IF the player is already playing it would NOT immediately change the position...
...hence my explanation (as shown in the tool tip).

This is the way it is working today.
That however might change in the future...

Of course it can not move a playing track. That's a common sense.
But I think that no user will use "SHIFT+ALT+Up/Down Arrow Keys" if can use drag and drop.

So I think that this HAS to change in future. Did you say might ?

Yes, that is correct.
The 'Preserve' check currently does not automatically unload a track once you drag it 'down'.
The 'Preserve' check also doesn't exchange loaded tracks, if you manually move playlist entries around by using the SHIFT+ALT+Arrow Up/Down Keys.
