New computer core i5 processor crackling noise

Post by friso »

Hello

Maybe someone can help me out here.
Got another computer with an intel motherboard and core i5 processor.
When i start some music, hishes pops and crackling noise comes in. Als distortion is there in the music.
I did a lot of things to solve this problem, but nothing works. I use an M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard.

In my old system an dual core the soundcard works ok.

The distortion is not only in proppfrexx, but also in other windows applications. Driver updates and BIOS updates also gives no solution.
When there is no sound, on my headphone you here randomply some ticking noises.
I also changed the videocard, but no solution. I got only one pci port, so changing the sound card to another one won't do the trick.

Hopefully one of you have a suggestion.

Thanx

Did you look here:

Quite often it might be a network driver issue - e.g. I once discovered with a new Intel Network Adapter driver, that this introduced very high latency spikes - as such downgrading to an older driver did the trick!
However, as this is not a real ProppFrexx issue, but more a system wide issue (as you got the same cracking sound in other applications as well) I would suggest contacting your computer supplier/manufacturer to fix the issue - e.g. send your computer back for repair!

Else, if you won't give up...open the Device Manager and try to disable ALL unnecessary devices...and see, if that helps...if yes, re-enable the devices one by one to see which one is causing it!
Also disable ANY power management options...

It indeed looks like an ethernet related problem.
When i disable the ethernet controller, the crackling noise dissapears.
I heave tested it also with an PCIe X1 intel ethernet adapter. Also the sam problem.

Didn't had the chance to tested it with another brand because i don't have it available.
You have any tips on configuring the ethernet so the distortion dissapears?

Thanx

What network card (model) are you using?

In my case it was a "Intel 82579LM Gigabit Adapter" - which is actually a common OEM network card.
Many users report - that using an old driver from HP is working good.
In my case this worked out - even I was using a Lenovo notebook...

Solved the problem. It was the advanced power control stuff in the BIOS that gives the trouble.
The support technician from M-Audio give me tips what i should disable, and it did the trick.

Thanx for support.
