Overlay (EndsAt) not starting after migrating to PF4

Post by AladnaFm »

Hi Bernd,

I have installed a demo of PF4 on my testing pc and copied the 3.0 folder completely to the 4.0.
So far so good, because all my settings included (overlay) scheduler entries are visible and seems to work.
Almost everything, because when a overlay (EndsAt) should be started it does not. Same settings and database as in PF3.

Settings overlay:

20161004_123703.jpg (116.29 KiB) Viewed 9653 times
And after the overlay is done, this program is started:
20161004_123724.jpg
20161004_123724.jpg (125.76 KiB) Viewed 9653 times
What is going wrong because in PF3 it is working perfectly.
Is the EndsAt option disabled at DEMO version?

You say: the overlay is not started ... and after the overlay is done, this program is started.
So it is not really clear to me what exactly is happening resp. not happening.
However, no, the EndsAt option is not disabled in v4.

To see what exactly is happening, please enable the 'Debug Logging' option in the general settings, section 'More Stuff' and then please re-try. Once you are done and have 'reproduced' the behavior, please send me the created Debug_ .log file with the approximate time when something should have been happened. The Debug_ .log file can be found in the log sub-folder of the ProppFrexx AppUserData folder.

Sorry for being not clear. I mean the overlay is loading and I can start it manually but it's not started automatic like a EndsAt should.
When the timer of the overlay reaches 0 it does nothing and keeps playing the playlist unless I press play. (see screenshot)

Manually playout or manual live assist are disabled.

Aha, sounds strange - I cannot reproduce that here.
So please send me the mentioned Debug_ .log file. And please describe how you are testing things, e.g. are you manually manipulating the system clock? If yes, please try without...

Aha, maybe that's the issue. I actually did manipulate the clock to test things. Have no patience ;) lol.
I was one time lucky and that was after waiting the complete waiting time of the overlay. So I will test it some more and create a debug log and I will come back at you for the results

Hi Bernd,

I've tested things without manipulating the clock and the overlay started!! So guess that was the issue.

I have added the debug log for you because I noticed something else:

Looks like there is a problem with the remote library or host on the pc. It says that the host computer disconnected a connection.

Here you can find the debug log: https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/ce ... 042/26f7e8

I'm using a remote library on the same pc and the connection is ok. Green check icon.
Music is loading in a playlist and is playing and I even added a remote library in PF without any problems.

Ahh no, sorry, I did overlook, that the exception was 'only' a "FirstChanceException".
This is a bit complicated to explain, but it logs a possible exception, which doesn't necessarily has to effectively occur.
In that case the connection to the remote server was indeed closed (windows does this by default after some time of inactivity) and will then be automatically re-established.
So the 'FirstChanceException' is to detect the lost connection and to then re-connect automatically.

All is normal in that case ;-)

Yes, that looks, as if you are using a remote media library, but the remote library server cannot be reached.
Are you using a remote media library and if yes, have you tested it's connection?
